About 2 former players - legends of Tottenham Hotspur

Michael Dawson began his career at Nottingham Forest before moving to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the 2005 transfer window. While at Tottenham Hotspur, Dawson led the Spurs players to victory in the 2008 League Cup. His form and performances at the club during the 2009/10 season saw Dawson included in the England preliminary squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

In 2014, Dawson left Tottenham to play for Hull City Club. He returned to his former club Nottingham Forest in 2018 and continued to play until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Dawson made his Tottenham debut in a 2–2 draw against Liverpool at the end of the 2004/05 season. In the following seasons, he continuously impressed everyone with his aerial ability and enthusiasm when competing.

The 2009/10 season is considered Dawson's best season for Tottenham Hotspur, as he helped the club finish in fourth place - Spurs' highest position in the past 20 years and qualify for UEFA Champions League 2010/11.

Dawson's stellar performance this season earned him the Tottenham Player of the Year award. Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez calls him "the best English defender I've ever faced".

In the 2012/13 season, Dawson was appointed Tottenham Hotspur captain and re-signed a three-year contract with the club. However, in 2014, he said goodbye to Spurs to play for Hull City.

Michael Dawson is considered a man who has always been devoted to the cause of Spurs, and to this day remains an extremely popular figure among the club's fans.

“I had nine great years in a Tottenham shirt. One of the best moments of my career, being captain and playing against Real Madrid."

“Going to Madrid and playing at the Bernabéu is something I will never forget, although perhaps I didn't make the most of it as I should have at the time”.

“There is a picture of me playing in the second leg at Lane with Ronaldo, one of the best players in the world and that is one of my favorite pictures. Those were two matches that I will remember forever, even if the results of those two games weren't in our favor at all”.

Ledley King - former England player - spent his entire career at Tottenham Hotspur from 1999 until his retirement as a player in 2012. He is currently an assistant coach for Tottenham's first team.

He is highly rated as a central defender, and The Times voted him the 25th best Tottenham player of all time in 2009. From 2002 to 2010, Ledley King made 21 international caps for his country, scoring twice and representing the country at UEFA Euro 2004 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Born in London, Ledley started training at the age of 14 at White Hart Lane - alongside Peter Crouch. In 1997, he officially became a Trainee in the Tottenham Football Academy.

He made his debut with the North London side in the Premier League in 1999. From then on, Ledley became a key member of the club.

Ledley made 323 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions after being named captain in 2004/05, winning the League Cup in 2008, and leading the Spurs players into the 2010 Champions League.

Ledley King's playing career was cut short by a knee injury in the final years of his career. In July 2012, the English player announced his retirement from football. He has continued to maintain his relationship with Tottenham Hotspur as a club ambassador.

Many fans and colleagues on the pitch believe Ledley can become one of the best central defenders if he continues to play. Thierry Henry says he (Ledley) is the best defender he has ever faced and is the only one to block his ball without fouling. During his entire career, King received only eight yellow cards during his years with Tottenham.

In July 2020, Tottenham Hotspur's team, while under manager José Mourinho, confirmed the appointment of Leadley King as assistant first-team coach for the club, rather than as an ambassador before.

The statement read: “Ledley will join as a member of our first-team squad, working alongside coaches, analysts, and playing teams both at the Training Center and on Tottenham match day. He will also take on the role of supporting our student players when they want to move up to the first team.”

Congratulations to Ledley King on taking the first steps on the road to becoming a professional coach after retiring from the pitch.
