Mikel Arteta, Head Coach of Arsenal Premier League football sincerely said that he did not want to see the Gunners fans have the hatred to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a former player who will move to Chelsea. The misinterpretation between lines made fans asked the former Arsenal captain, Auba to cancel his contract with Barcelona on January 2021. Less than two years later, the 33-year-old has been linked with a return to the English Premier League to wear the London rival's uniform.
For previous similar case studies, such players would be hated by his former club fans. Due to that reason, Arteta asked “The Gunners” fans to leave the space for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and don’t cross the line.
It’s a long time since that happened. I cannot go back every time there is another series. I have made my comments on that.
“I was really clear and honest with my opinion and what has been done has only been done to defend our club and put the club in the best possible position while being as clear, as honest and as consistent as we can be.”
“Auba is an exceptional player. He did so much for us – he was our captain and we have to be very grateful for what he did for this club. I hope he will receive a positive reception from Arsenal fans because he deserves that.”, this interview was posted in the media ahead of the clash with Leicester on August 13.
Former Chelsea winger Gus Poyet believes “Aubameyang would be perfect for Chelsea. He looks happy and back to his best scoring goals.” It made Chelsea team started to be interested in Auba seriously.
For Aubameyang, he scored only four goals last season before moving to Barca, where he regained good form with 11 goals from 17 games.
